The short version: IOST is a small-cap token that trades at a tiny fraction of its 2018 high. The chart below loads live data in your browser, so it always shows the latest price rather than a number we typed in. Use the tabs to switch between one day, a week, a month, three months and a year.

What the live numbers mean

The market card at the top of this page shows a handful of figures. Each one answers a different question, and none of them is as precise as it looks. Here is how we read them.

Price is an aggregated USD value from CoinGecko, which blends trades from dozens of exchanges into one number. It is a reference, not a quote you can trade at. The price you actually pay depends on the order book of the exchange you use, its spread and its fee. 24h, 7d and 30d change compare that reference price with the same moment one day, one week or one month earlier. For a token as volatile as IOST, a single spike or dump can dominate these figures, so look at the chart before you trust a percentage.

Market cap is the price multiplied by the circulating supply the data provider uses, roughly 36.7 billion IOST on CoinGecko. That supply number is itself an estimate. IOST exists both as a native coin on its own L1 chain and as a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain, and the official figures do not add up neatly. Our IOST tokenomics guide walks through the different supply counts. In practice, IOST’s market cap has sat in the tens of millions of dollars for a long time, which makes it a small asset that a few large orders can move.

24h volume is the total value traded across all tracked exchanges in the last day. It is useful but noisy. Some smaller venues report volume that looks inflated, possibly bot-driven, so we treat the headline number with caution. The volume that matters to you is the volume on your own exchange. Rank simply orders coins by market cap. CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap rank IOST differently because they use different supply figures, so a large gap between the two ranks is normal and says nothing about the coin itself.

IOST price history: from the 2018 peak to the 2026 low

IOST’s price history is mostly a story of one early peak and a long decline, broken up by sharp rallies that did not last. The fixed points are clear. CoinGecko records the all-time high at about $0.1298 on 23 January 2018, and both CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap record the all-time low at about $0.000526 on 19 August 2026. That is a drawdown of more than 99%. CoinMarketCap puts the peak a little higher, at about $0.1365 on 24 January 2018, because it aggregates exchanges differently.

2018–2020: the token sale era and the long bear market

IOST started trading in mid-January 2018, at the height of the ICO boom, and hit its peak within days. The whole altcoin market then collapsed. By the time the IOST mainnet went live on 25 February 2019, sentiment was poor. Binance’s IOST/USDT pair opened near $0.03 in March 2019 and fell below $0.008 the same month. The COVID crash of March 2020 pushed it down to about $0.00136. A real network launch did not stop the price from falling, and that pattern repeats later.

2020–2021: Japan and the bull run

The turning point for many Asian holders was 8 September 2020, when Coincheck became the first Japanese exchange to list IOST. The price reached a monthly high near $0.009 that month. The timing fits, though we cannot prove cause and effect. The 2021 bull market then did the heavy lifting. From about $0.0057 in January, IOST rose roughly 16-fold to a monthly high of $0.0913 in April 2021, then made a second peak near $0.0865 in September. Those are the highest prices since 2018, and they are still well below the original peak.

2022–2025: bear market, inscriptions and IOST 3.0

The 2022 bear market took IOST from about $0.055 in March to around $0.0064 by December. A brief burst came in December 2023, when inscription spam congested the chain and the price touched about $0.0141. The next big move came with the IOST 3.0 Layer 2 plan. Between November and December 2024, during the governance vote and the 12 December announcement, the price roughly tripled from about $0.0042 to $0.0122. It did not hold. On 13 January 2025, Upbit published a DAXA caution notice about the network transition and the planned 21.3 billion new tokens, and by April 2025 IOST was near $0.0028. The official 3.0 launch in March 2025 brought a spike to about $0.0071, which was sold quickly.

2025–2026: the crash wick, the low and two failed spikes

On 10 October 2025, a market-wide liquidation cascade produced a Binance candle that wicked to about $0.000014. That print exists only on one venue, which is why it does not count as the all-time low on aggregators. Through 2026 the price kept sliding until the 19 August 2026 low. Two dramatic spikes followed. On 9 September 2026, the day after the foundation announced a 70 million token burn, IOST jumped about threefold intraday on heavy volume and then gave it all back within days. On 20–21 October 2026, right after the v4.0.0 upgrade announcement, it ran from about $0.00074 to $0.0019 and was back near $0.00075 by 23 October. We could not confirm what drove that second move. It looks like a pump-and-dump pattern.

What moved the IOST price

Looking back, four forces explain most of IOST’s big moves. The first is the overall crypto cycle. The 2018 peak, the 2021 run and the 2022 slide all lined up with the wider altcoin market. IOST rarely moved against the tide for long.

The second is access in Asia. Listings matter for a coin with a strong Korean and Japanese holder base. Upbit has run a KRW market since July 2018, and the Coincheck listing in 2020 opened IOST to Japanese retail buyers. Negative exchange news hits just as hard, as the January 2025 caution notice showed. Our IOST in Japan and IOST in South Korea pages cover those markets in detail.

The third is supply. IOST 3.0 created 21.32 billion new tokens on BNB Chain, released over years through vesting, airdrops and rewards. A steady flow of new tokens puts pressure on the price unless demand grows to match. The fourth is thin liquidity. With a small market cap, a burn announcement or an upgrade notice can trigger a burst of speculative buying, and the same thin books make the drop just as fast. If you are asking whether any of this points to higher prices ahead, our IOST price prediction page tests popular targets against market-cap math.

Where IOST prices come from

Every IOST price you see starts as a trade on an exchange. Aggregators such as CoinGecko collect those trades and weight them by volume to produce one reference price. Our widgets load that CoinGecko price directly in your browser. If CoinGecko does not respond, they fall back to Binance’s IOST/USDT ticker, and the card tells you which source it used. Any quote older than 30 minutes is not shown as live, so the widgets hide rather than show a stale number.

Volume is concentrated. Binance’s IOST/USDT book and Upbit’s KRW-IOST market are the two biggest single venues. Together they carry a large share of reported IOST trading. Behind them come Bithumb and a group of offshore markets. Local fiat books in Japan, Thailand and Indonesia are much smaller. That matters because the reference price mostly reflects Binance and Upbit, while your yen or rupiah fill reflects your own exchange’s book.

Most IOST books quote in crypto

Outside Japan, Korea and Thailand, the usual route is to buy crypto first, then swap it for IOST on an exchange that lists the pair. A card on-ramp running since 2013 can get you that first step.

Why exchange prices and KRW or JPY quotes differ

If you compare Upbit’s won price or Coincheck’s yen price with the dollar price on this page, they rarely match exactly. Several things cause the gap. First, each exchange has its own order book, and the last trade is just the last trade. On a thin book, one order can move the price by a percent or more. Second, the conversion uses a reference FX rate, while local buyers pay in local money. Demand in one country can run ahead of the global market for a while.

Third, spreads differ widely. On Binance the gap between the best bid and ask for IOST is usually a fraction of a percent. Coincheck’s IOST/JPY book has shown spreads above 1%. Its 販売所 (broker-style counter) quotes a buy and sell price around a reference rate, with a spread Coincheck officially gives as 0.1–5.0%. If you check the price in a broker app, you are seeing the dealer’s quote, not the market. The IOST converter page works through how spreads change what you actually receive.

Fourth, arbitrage can stop. Traders normally keep prices close by moving coins between exchanges. When deposits or withdrawals pause, that link breaks. During the go-iost v4.0.0 hard fork, Upbit suspended IOST deposits and withdrawals from 21 to 26 October 2026, and Binance kept IOST withdrawals disabled for some time afterward. Check the status on both exchanges before you try to move coins to catch a price gap. Our guide to sending IOST covers memos and network choice.

IOST price in yen, won, baht and other local currencies

Most readers of this site think in yen, won, baht, rupiah, dong or Taiwan dollars, not USD. The widgets switch automatically on our localized pages, and the IOST converter lets you pick any of 13 currencies and work in either direction. The yen price has long been a small fraction of one yen. That is why questions about IOST reaching 1 yen are so common, and why we answer them with market-cap math on the prediction page rather than guesses.

Local books, local prices

Japan, Korea, Thailand and Indonesia have direct IOST markets in their own currency. Vietnam and Taiwan do not, so prices there are really crypto prices converted at a P2P or bank rate.

Here is how the markets split. In Japan, four FSA-registered exchanges handle IOST: Coincheck, OKJ, BitTrade and Binance Japan. In Korea, Upbit, Bithumb and Coinone run KRW books. On Upbit, the KRW price fell from ₩4.28 on 29 November 2025 to ₩0.734 at the 19 August 2026 low. Thailand has one THB book, Bitkub, listed since 27 November 2018. Indonesia has IOST/IDR on Bittime and Indodax, both thin. Vietnam and Taiwan have no local IOST pair, so people there usually buy crypto and trade IOST offshore. For country-by-country details, start at the IOST in Asia hub. For a step-by-step route, see how to buy IOST.

One last practical point: a local price is only as good as its book. A thin rupiah or yen market can sit a few percent away from the global price for hours. Before you buy or sell a large amount, compare the local quote with the converter, and split big orders if the book is shallow. Our IOST exchange comparison shows which venues have the deepest books for each currency.

Questions people ask

What is the all-time high of IOST?

CoinGecko records the IOST all-time high at about $0.1298 on 23 January 2018, a week after the token first listed. CoinMarketCap shows a slightly higher peak of about $0.1365 on 24 January 2018 because it aggregates exchanges differently. Either way, IOST has traded more than 99% below that peak for years.

What is the IOST all-time low?

Both CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap put the all-time low at about $0.000526 on 19 August 2026. A single Binance candle briefly printed far lower during the market-wide crash of 10 October 2025, but aggregators filter out one-venue wicks like that.

How is the IOST market cap calculated?

Market cap is the price multiplied by the circulating supply that the data provider uses, roughly 36.7 billion IOST on CoinGecko. Because IOST supply figures differ between the L1 chain, BNB Chain and the aggregators, the market cap is an estimate rather than an exact value. The tokenomics page explains the different supply numbers.

Why is the IOST price on Upbit or Coincheck different from Binance?

Each exchange runs its own order book in its own currency, so the last trade on Upbit in won or on Coincheck in yen will rarely match Binance’s IOST/USDT price converted at a reference FX rate. Thin books, wider spreads and paused deposits or withdrawals all let the gap grow. Most of the time the difference is small, but it can widen during sharp moves.

Where does the price on this page come from?

The live widgets load CoinGecko’s aggregated USD price in your browser and fall back to Binance’s IOST/USDT ticker if CoinGecko is unavailable. Local currency values are calculated with public reference exchange rates. Quotes older than 30 minutes are not shown as live.

Why did IOST spike in September and October 2026?

On 9 September 2026 IOST jumped about threefold intraday, the day after the foundation announced a 70 million token burn, and on 20–21 October 2026 it more than doubled right after the v4.0.0 upgrade announcement. Both moves came on heavy volume and gave back nearly all their gains within days.
